About

American Family Children's HospitalAbout American Family Children's Hospital

From allergies to transplants, American Family Children’s Hospital offers children and families outstanding medical care in a state-of-the-art, 61-bed facility.

American Family Children’s Hospital admits approximately 3,000 patients annually from every corner of Wisconsin, northern Illinois and beyond. Additionally, patients make more than 150,000 visits to our outpatient clinics and emergency department.

Among the more compelling features of American Family Children’s Hospital are:

  • A fully-equipped Pediatric Surgical Services Pavilion, including six operating rooms and two procedures rooms. Parents are able to escort their children into the operating room as the children go to sleep and again while waking up after surgery.
  • A Child Life program staffed by specialists trained to provide the most positive experience possible for each child.
  • Two Hospital School rooms, each staffed by Madison Metropolitan School District teachers.
  • A Sibling Care Center, Tyler’s Place, where a patients' brothers and sisters can be cared for while mom and dad focus on their hospitalized children.
  • A Positive Image Center, where children can ease their anxiety about appearance-altering illnesses or procedures.

Funds provided through Art Zoobilee will support patients and families at American Family Children’s Hospital.

About Henry Vilas Zoological Society Friends of the Zoo”

Thanks to the steadfast support of thousands of people like you for nearly 100 years, the Henry Vilas Park Zoological Society “Friends of the Zoo” has provided stewardship and fundraising leadership for the Henry Vilas Zoo. Your donations continue to be used for the society’s three missions: conservation, education, and recreation.

  • To care for our magnificent animals and acquire new ones.
  • To rejuvenate and build new habitats and exhibits.
  • To support our rich and varied educational programs.
  • To constantly improve the recreational experience for Dane County citizens and visitors from around the world.

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the Zoo, renovations resulting from the Zoo Century campaign will ensure that the Henry Vilas Zoo is able to provide the best possible animal exhibits and animal care for another 100 years. The Zoo will be able to remain a valuable asset to the community.

Funds provided through Art Zoobilee will go towards the last phase of the Zoo Century Campaign, the dramatic new Arctic Passage exhibit. Salt water lagoons for our polar bears and seals will create exceptional viewing above and below the waterline. A replica of an arctic research ship and weather station will give great educational opportunities. Our reindeer herd will graze in an open tundra. Much care has been taken to create habitats that are as true to nature as possible.
